Welcome to Year 9!
I am delighted to be working with you and your child during what is sure to be an exciting and important stage of their secondary school journey.
As the Year 9 Progress Lead, my role is to support students with their wellbeing, behaviour, and academic progress, ensuring they have the guidance and encouragement they need to thrive both personally and academically.
Year 9 is a key stepping stone towards Key Stage 4, as students begin making decisions about the subjects they will study in the coming years. The Options Process gives every student the chance to consider their interests, strengths, and future aspirations before selecting their courses. To help them make informed choices, each student will have an individual meeting with a Careers Advisor, who will provide personalised advice and support.
Throughout the year, students will also take part in our Year 9 Graduation Programme. This programme recognises much more than academic success, celebrating positive behaviour, strong attendance, and engagement with important careers-related activities. At the end of the year, students will achieve a Pass, Merit, or Distinction based on their overall performance and commitment. Their accomplishments will be celebrated at a special Graduation Ceremony, where they will wear caps and gowns provided by the school to mark this memorable milestone.
We are committed to working in partnership with families to help every student make the most of Year 9. Should you have any questions or require support during the year, please feel free to contact me at any time.
