Year 9

Year 9 – Progress Lead Mr Calland-Storey

I am excited to welcome you and your child to what promises to be a pivotal and rewarding year—Year 9!

My role within the school is to provide pastoral support specifically for Year 9 students, with a focus on behaviour, progress, and wellbeing. Our goal is to ensure that every student feels safe, supported, and empowered to achieve their very best.

This year marks a significant transition as students begin preparing for Key Stage 4. One of the most important milestones in this journey is the Options Process; an opportunity for students to start thinking about their future pathways and choose the subjects that will shape the next stage of their education. To support them, all students will meet with a Careers Advisor who will offer guidance tailored to their interests, ambitions, and strengths.

A unique and exciting part of Year 9 is our Graduation Programme. This initiative not only celebrates academic achievements but also recognises students’ behaviour, attendance, and efforts in completing key careers-related tasks. At the end of the year, students will be awarded either a Pass, Merit, or Distinction, and will take part in a formal Graduation Ceremony, complete with caps and gowns provided by the school. It’s a wonderful way to acknowledge their hard work and look ahead to the next chapter of their education.

We look forward to working closely with you to support your child throughout this important year. If you have any questions or need support at any time, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
