At Millfield, we are delighted run a ‘Key Stage 3 Graduation Programme’ for Year 9, which culminates in a graduation ceremony and a party day at the end of the year.
The aim of the graduation is to give Key Stage 3 its own identity and to encourage our students to become exceptional by the end of their first three years at Team Millfield. It is an opportunity to celebrate and acknowledge students’ achievements, but also to mark the next step in their educational journey. As students move into Key Stage 4, they need to be able to work independently and demonstrate maturity towards their studies. The graduation programme helps them prepare for this.
At Team Millfield we encourage parents / carers to look at the graduation booklet on our website with their child and encourage them in their endeavours. Students will be awarded a Pass, Merit, or Distinction for their achievements, based upon their work ethic, attendance, behaviour, graduation tasks and attendance to extracurricular activities. A scoring system is awarded out of 20. Attendance is based on in-school sessions. Authorised absences are included in the attendance score as students are not in class.
The special Graduation Ceremony is celebrated in full academic dress: graduation caps and gowns. All parents are invited to share in the celebrations at the graduation ceremony. We look forward to working in partnership with your child and yourself to enable them to achieve their full potential.
