Enterprise and Marketing
In Year 9, students are introduced to Enterprise and Marketing through an engaging foundation programme designed to develop an early understanding of business and entrepreneurship. Students explore a range of key topics, gaining a basic insight into areas such as enterprise, marketing, customer needs, business ideas and financial awareness. Alongside this, students develop valuable vocational and digital skills, including word processing, creating and using spreadsheets, and presenting information effectively. This introductory experience helps students build confidence, develop curiosity about the business world and prepares them for further study of Enterprise and Marketing at Key Stage 4 if opted for.
At Key Stage 4 students can opt to take the Enterprise and Marketing Cambridge National. This further enhances their understanding of the exciting world of business and entrepreneurship. The course explores the principles of enterprise and marketing, helping students understand what makes a successful entrepreneur and how businesses are created and developed. Students investigate key business concepts including market research, financial viability, marketing strategies and the factors involved in starting and running an enterprise. This qualification is ideal for students who are interested in business, creativity and developing practical skills for future study and employment.

Students develop a wide range of transferable skills throughout the course, including creative thinking, problem-solving, analysis, logical reasoning and critical evaluation. The qualification uses a straightforward assessment model, combining one externally assessed unit focused on knowledge and understanding with two coursework-style, skills-based non-examined assessment (NEA) units. This balanced approach allows students to demonstrate both their academic understanding and their ability to apply learning in realistic business contexts, while also building confidence and independence.
Through studying Enterprise and Marketing, students gain valuable insight into how businesses operate and how marketing influences success. They learn how to carry out market research, assess business ideas, understand customer needs and develop effective marketing approaches. The course also provides a strong foundation for progression to further study, including Business at AS or A Level, Cambridge Technical qualifications, T Levels and business-related apprenticeships, helping students prepare for a wide range of future career pathways.
