Personal Development at Millfield
At Millfield, we believe in helping students grow as a person.

Our Personal Development Programme is designed to support their academic journey, foster well-being, and equip students with the skills needed to succeed in life.
Careers and Futures:
- Careers Guidance: Our independent careers advisor, Mrs. Arthur, is available in school on Thursdays to provide guidance and support as students explore their career options.
- Work Experience: All Year 10 students take part in a two-week work experience programme, which also includes a mock interview with an employer in prepartion the experience.
- Millfield Careers Programme: Students benefit from our comprehensive careers programme, which has been awarded the prestigious Quality in Careers award. We regularly host employer encounters to provide students with bespoke information about careers.
Wellbeing and Mental Health:
Mental Health Support:
- Our school nurse is available for drop-in sessions once a month.
- We work with the NHS SHINE team to provide additional mental health support. Referrals for meetings with the SHINE team can be coordinated through school.
- We also work with KOOTH, an online support package for students. KOOTH offers confidential, text-based counselling and support from qualified professionals. Students can access KOOTH through school or directly on their website.
- Our pastoral team are trained in mental health support, and we have a Family Support Officer.
House System:
- Our house system provides a supportive community where students can connect with peers and teachers. Students learn about the community and local charities, take part in house competitions, and work together to achieve common goals. Students can earn house points and win prizes for commitment to school life and activities beyond the curriculum.

- We promote understanding of social, moral, spiritual, and cultural issues, as well as British values.
