At Millfield Science and Performing Arts College, students have access to a wide range of extracurricular activities available during lunchtime and after school, both recreationally and competitively, across multiple subjects. Our goal is to provide students with:
- Broadened Horizons: Our extracurricular activities expose students to diverse subjects, hobbies, and experiences beyond their regular classes, helping to broaden their perspectives, expand their knowledge, and foster a well-rounded view.
- Promoted Creativity: Through activities like art, music, writing, and problem-solving challenges, students have opportunities to nurture creativity, imagination, and innovative thinking skills.
- Increased Confidence: Participating in these activities helps boost students’ self-esteem and confidence as they tackle new challenges, overcome obstacles, and demonstrate their talents, leading to a sense of pride in their abilities.
- Improved Social Skills: Extracurricular activities often involve teamwork, collaboration, and communication, offering valuable opportunities to develop social and employability skills. Students learn to cooperate, communicate effectively, and respect different perspectives.
- Personal Growth: These activities provide a supportive environment for students to explore their interests, strengths, and areas for improvement. With feedback from peers and mentors, students engage in self-reflection, fostering personal and academic growth.
- Enhanced Academic Performance: Research indicates a positive correlation between participation in enrichment activities and improved academic performance. These activities stimulate cognitive abilities, enhance problem-solving skills and boost motivation.
Encouraging your child to participate in a variety of extracurricular activities will help us nurture their personal, social, and intellectual development, preparing them to thrive in an increasingly complex and dynamic world.
Below is a list of activities we currently offer, which is updated by Mr Smith on a termly basis as new options are introduced.
