PTFA
The PTFA aim to be an inclusive association and welcomes new members and ideas for fundraising.
What is the PTFA?
The PTFA is a mixture of parents, carers, teachers, and friends of the school who work together for the benefit of Millfield Science & Performing Arts College and its students. The PTFA is dedicated to fundraising to enhance the students with experiences and resources. The funds raised by the PTFA go towards student trips, transport, or equipment to enhance pupils’ learning.
Why should I join?
There is no expectation on any parent or carer. If you are able to volunteer, any amount of time you can give to the PTFA will always be well received. There are a variety of ways you can get involved, from attending PTFA meetings, engaging with social media activity, through to volunteering at events or coordinating events. Even donating preloved items, raffle prizes or suggesting brilliant ideas are ways of getting involved. There seems to be a myth that if you get involved with your PTFA you will never be able to leave! We make it clear that parents can come to our meetings to just listen and learn, or they can take a more active role if they want to, there are no set expectations.
Recent and upcoming events
Our newly formed PTFA is in its infancy, but we were really excited to hold our first fund-raising event in the hall on in March 2024. We were overwhelmed with the generosity from all our families to enable an Easter Egg Tombola and Cake Sale for our students at break. The students absolutely loved the event and we raised £236 for the school. This has now given us lots of ideas for more exciting events and plan for the next academic year. Upcoming events include:
- Family Bingo
- Thornton Gala
- Summer Activities Day
- Quiz Nights
- Music events
- Coffee Mornings and a Pop-Up Shop
- Refreshments at progress evenings
Please do remember that this Association is here to welcome all parents and carers so we can raise funds to support our students and our fantastic school. It is a great way to get involved with the school and its community whilst raising money at the same time.
If you would like to register an interest in supporting our PTFA, or have any ideas on fundraising, then please contact Mrs Crook – Assistant Headteacher.
